1971

AVGROUP Founder and former President Ed Tomberlin launches his career in aviation support with the founding of Airtronics South, an FAA-certified avionics repair and installation facility located at the Charlie Brown Airport in Atlanta, GA.

1976

Airtronics South becomes Avionics Sales, as the company’s focus began to shift from repair and installation to sales and distribution. It is with Avionics Sales that Ed Tomberlin first develops his signature parts exchange sales model, discovering that he could reduce turnaround times for repairs while simultaneously limiting larger clients’ need to manage their own inventory.

1982

The successful implementation of the new sales model with Avionics gives rise to the establishment of a second company called Turbine Air Parts, which also met with success due to the exchange sales strategy.

1991

Recognizing the potential for a successful union, the two companies finally merge to become Avgroup, Inc. Since the merger, Avgroup has expanded and relocated to larger facilities at the Dekalb Peachtree Airport in Atlanta; added a remote sales office in Wichita, KS; and established working relationships with distributors in Europe and Singapore now carrying Avgroup inventory.

2001

Avgroup expands by moving into larger warehouse facilities. The current facility is uniquely tailored to provide efficient storage and distribution of corporate aircraft parts. Located within minutes of Atlanta’s Hartsfield Airport, Avgroup can arrange for expedited shipments through the major airlines.

2003

Avgroup and ACSS sign Logistics Agreement, providing un-paralleled delivery support for corporate and airline customers. Avgroup continues to secure partnerships and distribution solutions with major manufacturers, giving the industry immediate access to the most needed aircraft parts.

2021

AVGROUP celebrates 50 years of supporting the global business aviation community.

2023

AVGROUP takes the next step into being able to support our global community through digital communications with multilingual support from our worldwide headquarters.

At Avgroup, Quality Control is the core of our business philosophy. We strive to provide the highest quality parts and select only top-tier vendors who meet our exacting standards. The market may offer cheaper alternatives; however, we will not compromise quality because doing so would reduce reliability and jeopardize your aircraft operations. Over the years, this commitment to quality has resulted in our being designated as an Approved Supplier to many of the aircraft manufacturer’s own service and support organizations.

The desire to maintain the highest quality standards led Avgroup to pursue ISO certification in 2006. Subsequently, we obtained ISO 9001:2015 and AS9120B certificates of registration. This process helped the company become more efficient in its operations, as well as more adept at solving problems, all of which means Avgroup is better able to respond to customer needs.
